2 Cosmic-Dance The Sanskrit word for 'Cosmic-Dance' is "Nataraja'. In the field of iconography, this is a very famous icon. The hair locks dramatically swirling around, with a stunning gait and agility the dancing form is frozen in its breath-taking movement with one leg poised on the ground and the other leg lifted high. God Shiva as 'Nataraja' is depicted as the relentless cosmic whirling movement. It was quite well known in the ancient India, that nothing in the 'Grand-creation' is static and solid. They knew that everything is in constant whirl. The apparent stability is only due to imperceptible rapid movement. One-within-the-other, the whole of creation is in eternal synchronized movement. Though it is indeed quite orderly, the whole magnificent mind-boggling rapid movement is also un-nerving, if the puny human being begins to visualize this! The ancient Seers portray such a movement of the TOTALITY, as 'Nataraja' (King of Dance)!
Modern science of astronomy and as well the particle physics share this very same view of whirling dance matching the speed of light, at the levels of both minuscule sub-atomic particles and also the gigantic galaxies. They also confirm that the stability in the whole of creation is only due to the all governing movement.
It is mentioned in the scriptures extolling Lord Shiva that HE dances eternally in the 'Space' of 'Consciousness'. This is known in Sanskrit as "Chitambaram' ("Chit' = Consciousness + 'Ambaram' = Space). This symbolism has in it yet another path breaking insight. According to this insight, the absolute substratum is nothing but a 'Dance (Play) of Consciousness'! The fundamental cause of the whole creation can only be understood in a 'Unified Theory Of Everything'. Only towards such a theory, the most modern physicists are precisely working. All manifestations are transient and they are the expressions of the inscrutable play of subtle CONSCIOUSNESS. All the infinite manifestations unfailingly decay, except the very process of endless manifestation! This undeniable fact surely indicates that:
* The POWER (Intelligence) that causes manifestation IS NOT in the same category of fleeting manifestations.
*The potential of this primordial POWER is inexhaustible.
*All manifestations disintegrate and dissolve back into this subtle realm. This all governing movement of dissolution is FLUX and which is akin to PLAY.
*The primordial SOURCE POWER has no second-thing, apart from ITSEF, in ITS category.
*As no manifestation lasts for eternity, all manifestations are only an illusory appearance.
*Humankind is one such fleeting manifestation, with a very significant difference! That is, it can either, ignorantly be preoccupied with a separated self-consciousness and suffer, OR it can realize the TRUTH and be FREE of self-identity ignorance. Under the light of above outlined truism, separate self-identity is highly untenable. Sense of "I" and "ME" are indeed aberration. Only the eternal Unified Cosmic Dance of 'Nataraja' is 'Satya' (Truth). Seeing the fleeting relative features (Including oneself) with such a vision of ABSOLUTENESS is wisdom!
