1 | | Shakshi-Bhav and Tatasta-Bhav | The former means, 'Witness-Consciousness' and the latter means, 'Choiceless-Awareness'.
'Shakshi' = Witness. 'Tatasta' = As it is, Choiceless. 'Bhav' = Attitude, Awareness, Feeling in an outlook.
Both these two very potent words are taken together because they are closely connected to each other. It is not at all wrong to say that they both mean the same state of consciousness. The true spiritual approach is, much before trying to understand the outer world of men and matter, one has to understand deeply the inner world of one's thought-process. The root of all problems in our life is that, we do not know ourself. The fact that, each one of us is a bundle of contradictions is completely unknown to us. We are not sensitive to this hard fact. Not knowing this, we are engaged continuously in solving problems of our life! If at all a moment comes, which makes us face ourself, we only see it with a squint of self-justification. Even self-condemnation is only an imbalanced perception. Both self-justification and self-condemnation make us escape from facing the fact of 'WHAT IS'.
'WHAT IS' in each one of our lives is beyond the social values of morals, ethics and religious commandments. No penal code or reward and punishment can transform the 'WHAT IS' in us. In fact, presently as we are, there are no two, ME and my 'What Is'. I am, my What Is! Only an acute SEEING, directly 'What Is', can radically transform the consciousness. This very important way of 'Directly Seeing' is only possible when there is no resistance or motive to reach somewhere. Such a state of seeing is 'Witness-Consciousness' and 'Choiceless-Awareness'.
This profound state of observation reveals 1) One's own self is a bundle of conflicts and contradictions. 2) It is incessantly restless in the unending pursuit of preserving its self-identity. 3) 'Self-identity' is only a myth, because, in the passage of time ever so many different identities have come and gone, but the search for identity has not stopped. 4) Satisfaction and fulfillment expected to yield through self-identity is a deception. This is so because, the center which is constantly seeking, in itself is a make-believe notion. In actuality, there is no such entity there at all! 5) It is only an unchecked past habitual momentum, which continues seeking newer self-identity and through that satisfaction and fulfillment. 6) If this wild chase is not SEEN and UNDERSTOOD and thus STOPED, it can go on forever and ever! 'Witness-Consciousness' and 'Choiceless-Awareness' is the state in which the ENDING of delusions is possible.
