Jinendra’s Maxims of Happiness
Happiness is directly proportional to Genuine Affection, I have for Everything and Everyone. Fear is the root cause of unhappiness, but Affection is the antidote for Fear Fear is always self-centered. It is our fear that makes us seek some unreal consolation from a system of philosophy or theology. But, if one can give affection or receives affection, then the fear diminishes and reduces the sense of insecurity. In relationships where affection is reciprocal and there is a mutual sense of admiration, the persons are able to meet the world in a mood of joyful exploration and a general self- confidence towards life. Many people fall into a habit of unvarying routine to escape from fear. They allow habit to dominate their lives utterly and completely. Falling in love can also provide escape from fear. It is like a little heaven of refuge from the harsh world. Here they can be sure of being admired and praised. They enjoy this love companionship as their feelings of fear and timidity are put to rest. There is always some element of protection in such affection, and so one cannot be indifferent to the hurts of people he/she loves. Another cause of unhappiness is ambition rooted in fear and one-sided view. If the ego is too powerful then a person’s ambition excludes affection from its purview. Such ambition leads to anger and hatred against the person appearing to be obstructing our path. The cure for this is to have a sense of genuine reciprocal interest in each other, not only as a means to each other’s good, but rather as a combination having a common good. Such mutual affection is one of the most important elements of real happiness. Many people pass through life without experiencing real genuine affection. Genuine affection brings your life back in balance.MAXIM 1
