Pathway to Positive Emotions
A school near you might soon feature a new path for education. Nearly a couple of dozen local schools are experimenting with a new system to help students learn.
Jinendra Kothari has been teaching ‘Sustainable Happiness” for the past 35 years.
During his classes he would overhear teachers talking about the problems they faced in the classroom.
He set out to design a new type of Exercises specifically for kids. After years of research he developed a system that addresses the issues that all children face: security, survival and self-esteem.
“A lot of these exercises are designed to bring symmetry to their body,” said Jinendra. “Most people see 3S as a simple exercise, but it is not, it is much more beyond it. That’s why I call it 3S Smart Learning System – a “Pathway to Positive Emotions”.
The 3S-Smart Learning System was created to help kids control their emotions, while increasing their overall physical and mental fitness.
“My son is a very active 7 year old and he can be pretty distractible,” stated Becky Oglum whose son just started doing 3S at the start of this school year. “So, what I have seen is that the 3S have helped him focus his energy.”
“I feel a lot better,” commended Henry Oglum after doing 3S.
The 3S system is designed for students of all ages. It contains 65 moves that are applied based on the child’s mood and the situation. It is centered around the idea that breath is directly connected to emotions.
“When you cry your breath is different. When you are angry your breath is different. When you are depressed your breath is different,” explained Jinendra. “So, by teaching movement I am affecting the breath indirectly and this breath changes their emotions.”
Dee Spolum has been using the 3S system in her classroom for three years. She says she will never teach without it again.
“It is so powerful, it is a very important tool for me,” she said emphatically. “I use it for the whole class for creating peace in the classroom. I use it for individual children who need to problem solve. I use it if I had a math or reading groups that needs stimulated or brought down.”
“I wish everybody did it and it was more widely practiced,” added Oglum.
“They are more available to learn,” said Spolum. “I’m a teacher, I love to teach and I want them to learn.”
3S is a lifelong practice that, according to Jinendra, has implications beyond emotions. He says many problems that kids have, like ADHD, Autistic and ED are experiencing positive responses.
He says that his 3S Exercises, can be applied by the student to self medicate, which can lessen or completely negate the need for pharmaceutical drugs.
